Dash of Lights

20050726_nightlightdashesminiBlink On, Blink Off

This is another in the series of Lights Out, No One's Home. I used a small set of five LEDs, which flashed in different patterns. If you follow the lines, you can see how they appear and disappear at different intervals. (See the big picture.) Others in the series are done with color-changing LEDs, with more LEDs that don't blink and just a single LED.

Sparklers on the Third

20050715_sparklersminiJuly 3rd, just a day early...

It amazes me how nice sparkler pictures come out. We got started a little early setting things on fire. The glowing necklace is in pieces here. (See the big picture.)

Drawer Pull

20050711_drawerpullminiYou know you are working too hard...

I was struck by the clarity and radial symmetry of this knob the other morning, so here you go. For what it is worth, this is the knob you would see if you turn around from here or look in from here. Perhaps I need to stay at a different hotel the next time I travel to San Jose... (See the big picture.)

Face in the Light

2050710_nightfaceminiWhat is the opposite of 'shadow'?

I did a couple of these a little while back, so I thought I would post another. Actually trying to draw something in the pitch black using only a small light certainly has its challenges, that's for sure. Then there's the realization that 15 seconds is a lot shorter than it sounds. (See the big picture.)

Night Lights

20050706_nightlightsminiHow about a light?

I did this a while ago, at the same time I did this one. (It looks even better in the big picture.)

Glow Sticks

20050705_glowsticksminiGlow, little light stick, glow!

Set aside because the sparklers and bottle rockets were just that much more exciting. (See the complete picture.)

Ferris Wheel Neon

20050704_ferriswheelneonminiMr. Toad's Wild Ride

The indoor ferris wheel at the Toys R Us in Manhattan is adorned with neon. This is just one spoke. It certainly makes for a novel way to look around such a big store. I recommend it just for the fun of it. (See the big picture.)

Double Vision

20050630_doublevisionminiI was trying to get a shot of the sign and tree under the lovely glow of the streetlight, but slipped. I liked the accident was better than the plan. (See the big picture.)

Anchor Meter

20050628_metalplateminiI have always liked the engineering details of, well, things. The plain lines, the basic functionality, it always looks so clean, so purposeful. This plaque (What else would you call it?) has that, plus the weathered elegance of something that has been around. (You have to see the big picture for the details...)

Parallel Lights

20050626_parallellightsminiAnother long exposure shot, like this one. Instead of a single LED, I had ten, each about a centimeter about from the next. (See the big picture.)
