Every April there is a night time dig in Franklin, New Jersey, the Fluorescent Mineral Capital of the World. I finally got around to going last year. And this is my story......uh, ok, no story, just a picture. I'm standing in a pit. Someone has set-up some very powerful shortwave ultraviolet lights. The walls are made of calcite (red under UV) and willemite (green). It is quite an amazing site. (Click on the picture to see the larger photo.)
You look smurfilicious! I used to love Franklin Mines when I was a kid. I haven't thought about that place in quite a while. I won a geode there once, as a door prize.
